Zen-Do classes provide a great aerobic and anaerobic workout and will also develop speed, flexibility and co-ordination.
Classes last one hour and begin with a full body stretch. Once properly warmed up, students learn basic punches and kicks and then combinations. Attack and defence techniques are then practised with a partner, and this is followed by shadow kickboxing and exercises.
Classes are non-contact, so there is no risk of getting hurt. Separate classes are available for those who wish to spar and make light contact. |

The
English Shotokan Academy (ESA) was officially formed in January 1991,
by the late Steve Cattle 6th Dan and a group of like minded
instructors. For many years Steve had been a personal student of the
late Taiji Kase 9th Dan and it was to pursue the teachings of Kase
Sensei that the ESA was set up.
Shihan Taiji Kase Taiji
Kase was one of the last of the direct students of O’sensei Gichin
Funakoshi and his son Master Yoshitaka Funakoshi. Many years prior to
his death in November 2004, Kase Sensei had formed an Instructor
Academy selected from talented and experienced karate-ka from around
the world. This individual members group, in later years, became known
as the Kase-Ha Shotokan-Ryu Academy (KSKA) and its members are
dedicated to the continued development of this unique line of Shotokan
Karate. The
senior instructors of the ESA are members of this elite academy and now
lead the ESA with their technical skills and knowledge learned directly
from Shihan Kase.

Welcome to the fascinating world of WingTsun (WT) in London. WingTsun is a truly sophisticated Chinese martial art which appeals to men and women of a variety of ages. |
Renowned for being an efficient self-defence system taught to
elite police and military units around the world, it has a universal
appeal and can be studied and enjoyed for many years.
Introduction The main objective of WingTsun (WT) is to be a realistic system of
self-defense. WT does not focus on fighting “techniques”, instead
relying on fighting and energy principles to be followed at all times. The central idea is that, under
pressure, it is impossible to visually recognize the precise direction
and speed of an attack and make a conscious decision on an effective
way in which to react, all within the very brief amount of time you
have before your opponent's attack lands. Rather, one must (counter)
attack immediately in a very direct and protected manner, and rely on
reflexes to determine how to react if the opponent's attack continues
to pose a problem. Chi Sao, or “sticking hands” trains students
to respond reflexively to the speed, force, and direction of an attack
based on tactile information - which the human brain processes much
faster than visual information.
Classes at our London schools are informal and welcoming, so
why not come along.
